The most emotional, pulse-pounding House of the Muses issue ever! Mnasidika tries to pull her life together after Timas’ death, but before the Hetairai can even begin to mourn, Gorgo calls Sappho to Tribunal to be tried for the girl’s murder! Event after event unravels, and Mika attempts to return to the House of the Muses only to find Sappho has not forgotten her part. The morning Sappho’s body washes ashore on the beach in Mytilene, that very night Dika finds those responsible for Sappho’s death and metes out her own brand of justice.
The highly-acclaimed, award-winning House of the Muses miniseries on sale now at Indyplanet.com! Scholars have for centuries set aside one perplexing poem inexplicably written in Spartan dialect from the Ennead, the nine books authored by Sappho. Why Sappho kept this poem in her collection has never been explained. Sappho had among her students a girl named Mnasidika, a Spartan name that means, ‘In Remembrance of Justice’. Another translated restoration of a little-known poem of Sappho’s, shredded by the early Church and left in fragments because of its ‘offensive’ subject matter revealed a haunting tale of ‘immortal lovers’. The details of this novel are derived primarily from the works of Alkaios, not Sappho, in his recounting of their early youth during the Civil War in Mytilene, the War with Athens, and the activities of the House of Penthilos. Many are unaware–or their understanding uncertain–about the part the Poetess of Mytilene played in the court intrigues, political upheavals and assassination plots of the time. Recipient of the 2008 Prism Comics Queer Press Grant for Outstanding Series!

Seems there was a break in my UNSUB link after I spent a few hours working on a new template. Took awhile to get it fixed, then they started blocking my emails again. I’ve gone to yet another template, but since it’s been a month since anything new was posted, you’re getting this update so I can send another test email. Should be up and running again. I hope. Cross your fingers. :/

On this day in 2007, four years to the very day, House of the Muses #1 was published at IndyPlanet.com.
This is the final page in the online version of House of the Muses. I’ve uploaded two pages today, so be sure to look back so that you’re caught up. I’d thought I’d have a long speech about having reached this juncture in my journey, but I do not; it will have to come later.
What’s next for House of the Muses? Book 9 will shortly be available on Wowio and IndyPlanet .com in December, and plans are underway for a drastic rewrite and re-render of House of the Muses #1: Rebuilt. Throughout my entire four year run, it’s HotM #1 that has garnered the most criticism and that, along with some cover changes for HotM #2-4 will finalize my work on this series.
Be here in December for announcements on HotM #9 and watch for HotM #10 on sale in June 2012. It will be the only book in the series that will not be viewable online.
Thank you for taking this journey with me.

The series tells the story of Dika, a woman who studies at Sappho’s school on the island of Lesbos. While Dika learns how to use her power as an oracle, she meets the love of her life, a young woman named Timas.

Pam got the idea for the story when she was studying Biblical Greek in college and happened on the works of Sappho. As she studied the fragments of poetry, she created a story based on what she read. Years later, when Pam learned computer graphics, she turned her story into House of the Muses.
When House of the Muses started, CGI comics was a relatively new genre and Pam’s contributions through the long-running series have earned her recognition as one of the best CGI comic artists in the field. She was also honored by Prism Comics as the recipient of its 2008 Queer Press Grant, which is fully funded by comic book fans and creators to help LGBT creators get their work out.
Now House of the Muses is winding down. Issue 9 is finished and scheduled for publication in December. But you can get a page-by-page preview at the comic’s website. And Pam announced a bonus a few weeks ago: Issue 10 will wrap up the story in 2012. READ MORE:

Hey, folks!!! I’ve been invited to participate in Jenni Gregory’s Dark Mischief Anthology. I know you’re all waiting with bated breath for my latest issues of A Deviant Mind and House of the Muses to get out, and so am I. This is a project I am really excited about. You’re going to see a slightly different look for my submission, but I’ve always been a fan of ghost stories and I welcome the chance to stretch my legs a bit. My submission will be called Uncertainty, and I hope the quality of my writing is equal to what I’ve done to date.
With working a lot of long hours at my evening job and a sudden nudge that I also have responsibilities as a judge for this year’s Prism Comics Queer Press Grant, I have two deadlines this week and I’m scrambling to do this right! But enough about me. I’ll let Jenni give you the intro to her project:
Hi, I’m Jenni Gregory and my project is Dark Mischief Volume One. I’m the editor and a contributor as well. This is a dream project for me, something I’ve wanted to do for years now. You see, I love comics and I love Halloween and I’ve always thought that every year around Halloween someone should publish a big collection of great spooky comics stories. You know, fun stuff … monsters and zombies, ghosts and vampires. Not necessarily light-hearted (though that’s OK, too) but stories that are more … whimsical, more mischievous. At some point I realized that the someone who should publish this collection was actually me. This summer I got up the nerve to finally float the idea to a few fellow comics creators and to my great surprise not only did I get positive reactions — I got enthusiastic reactions!

So this Halloween will see the release of Dark Mischief Volume One featuring stories by Mitch Byrd (Starman, Predator, Starship Troopers), AP. Furtado (Heavy Metal), Dirk Manning (Nightmare World), Thomas Hall (Robot 13), Dani Jones (My Sister the Freak), Dave Flora (Ghost Zero), Sara Turner (Ghosts of Pineville), Kim Holm, Mark Rudolph, Cayetano Garza, Sam Kirkman, Pam Harrison, Wayne Spencer, Kenny Durkin, Thomas Florimonte Jr, and more.
The collection will be edited by me — Jenni Gregory — with an assist by Barry Gregory, design by AP. Furtado, and a cover by Mitch Byrd.
The collection will be printed in full color at standard comics size — 6.625 x 10.25 — in both a softcover perfect-bound edition and a limited hardcover edition. A digital download edition will also be available.
We’re fortunate in that we don’t need to generate funds for printing. One of the benefits of owning a printing press is that printing costs aren’t really an obstacle for you.

So what’s the purpose of this campaign? Simple … I’m hoping to raise some funds to pay advances to the artists and writers who have contributed to this project. That’s it. 100% of all proceeds from this campaign (after paying for the rewards themselves) go directly to the creators who contributed stories as advances on their royalties.
We’re offering some great rewards — including a limited edition of the book available ONLY as a Kickstarter reward! Take a look at our Kickstarter page and see for yourself!

So thanks for your attention and I hope you’ll consider pledging!
Thanks, Jenni! Go check out this project, and if you’d like to give us a donation, the link is here.
